From 1961 until 1971, Mercedes-Benz built the two-door
cabriolet known as the W111 convertible. Its soft-top roof folded into a
compartment behind the back seat and was based on the W111 saloon. The
Mercedes-Benz W111 220SEb convertible featured a 2.2L inline six engine with
120 horsepower DIN/134 hp SAE gross (88/100 kW) and 127 lb-ft of torque
available as an option (172 Nm). The 2.5L inline six engine in a later
Mercedes-Benz W111 250SE convertible produced 150 PS (148 bhp – 110 kW) and 162
lb-ft of torque (220 Nm).
