As today’s topic, we choose to explain about Suzuki Bandit
250, in other words, the Suzuki GSF250 which was another serious request of
yours.
If we do an introduction about this motorcycle, this has
become the bike which can be taken for the lowest price and the bike with the most
defective 250 inline 4 cylinders. But it is a very easy task for a good-driving
condition Bandit motorcycle to compete with Honda Jade and Hornet which are the
most famous 4-cylinder motorcycles in this country.

The birth of this bike took place in Japan nearly 30 years
ago, in 1989, and this motorcycle was manufactured in Japan itself until 2000
for 11 years continuously.
GSF250 – model years ‘K’ (1989), ‘L’ (1990), ‘M’ (1991), ‘N’
(1992), ‘P’ (1993), ‘R’ (1994).
GSF250V – model years ‘S’ (1995), ‘Y’ (2000).
GSF250Z – limited, model years ‘M’ (1991), ‘N’ (1992), ‘P’
(1993).
GSF250VZ – limited, model year ‘S’ (1995).
Limited models of this motorcycle were produced as Half
Faired and Clip-On Handle Bars were added in the N model, and the power which
was at 45 horsepower was reduced to 40 horsepower after 1992. The Bandit
GSF250V model was introduced with VVT (Variable valve timing) technology in
1995 and this is similar to the Power Valve process of V-Tec and 2 Stroke of
Honda. This Suzuki Bandit motorcycle engine with VVT can be identified by the
red color on the top of the engine.

Engine
This can be mentioned as the basic changes that have
happened in this motorcycle and we will talk about the engine and other
components of this motorcycle. As the engine of this bike Suzuki has provided a
248cc DOHC Four-stroke Inline Four Cylinder engine, and 16 intake and exhaust
valves have been used instead of 4 valves per cylinder. At that time in every
inline 4-cylinder motorcycle, this a situation that can be seen. Due to this, a
very high power is given by the 250 engine to the motorcycle and a very low
level of fuel efficiency can be seen in this bike. This engine has a power of
45 horsepower and as mentioned above, in 1992 it was released at 40 horsepower.
A good condition Bandit motorcycle can easily reach 100 km/h
in less than 6 seconds and it can reach a 190 km/h top speed in less than 2
minutes. But most of the bandit motorcycles in this country are full of faults
and it has been a difficult task for some motorcycles to pass 100 km per hour.
Therefore, if you are thinking of buying a Bandit motorcycle, do not forget to
get expert support, otherwise, you will be disappointed when you see Japanese
motorcycles in any place.

Cooling
System and Fuel Supply
As the cooling system here, as in all motorcycles of the same
category like Hornet, Jade, and Zeal, a liquid cooling system has been used
here. The cooling system of Bendy can be seen as one of the devices that shows
the disease in this bike. For this reason, do not forget to carry out proper
maintenance on time.
The fuel supply is done through a carburetor and
Carb-related errors can also be seen in Bandit, and due to the lack of spare
parts in this model, Honda Jade’s carb is sometimes used for this motorcycle. A
Bandit motorcycle with no carb-related faults & a Tuned proper Carburetor
can achieve a fuel efficiency of 20 to 23 km per liter of petrol and an untuned
carb motorcycle gives a fuel efficiency of between 8 and 15 km per liter of
petrol. A 14-liter tank has been provided as a fuel tank, while reserve storage
of 3.5 liters is included in this 14-liter.
Gear, Clutch
and Design
When talking about the gear and clutch system of this bike,
a wet multi-plate disc clutch is used with a 6-speed gear system. If we talk
about the design and frame of this motorcycle, although most of the motorcycles
competing with this motorcycle at that time used Steel Diamond Frames, Suzuki
used a Trellis Frame for this motorcycle. Although the design is very similar
to the naked motorcycles at that time, this bandit stands out because of its
Trellis Frame of it. However, the Bandit could not be as beautiful and stylish
as the Honda Hornet, but in terms of speed, the Honda Hornet was slightly below
that of the Bandit.
If you pay attention to the handling here, both the rider
and the person behind can travel very easily in the long run. But there is some
problem in turning the motorcycle in small spaces and instability in turning in
corners at high speeds can also be seen in this motorcycle. And also, this
motorcycle weighs about 176 kg.
Meter
and Clearance
A Full Analog meter has been used as the meter system here
and it shows things like Speed, ODO, Trip, and RPM. The lack of a Fuel Gauge or
Temperature Gauge can be pointed out here, but after 1995, this problem
disappeared due to the addition of a meter showing the fuel gauge.
The seat height of Bandit is 750mm (29.5 inches). Due to
this, a person of any height can easily ride this motorcycle, and Ground
clearance is recorded as 155mm (6.1 inches).
Suspension,
Breaks and Tires
When talking about the suspension of this motorcycle, Oil
damped telescopic 41mm forks with coil springs are used in the front and a mono-shock
which can be adjusted to 7 levels is used for the back.
As the Brakes of this bike, a single disc with a 4-piston Tokiko
caliper at the front and a disc with a two-piston Tokiko caliper are used at
the back. Though Nisin calipers are seen in some motorcycles in this country,
the Tokiko caliper is used in the standard model. The brakes are at a very good
level and two front discs can be seen in the 400 models of this bike.
When we talk about the tires of this bike, a 110/70R-17M/C
54H tire in front and 150/60R-17M/C 66H tubeless tires can be seen in the back
of this bike. Other than the Bandit 250V, the back tire size of other bike
models was 140/70 –17M/C 66H.
Finally, if we note this motorcycle, this motorcycle can
compete with motorcycles like Honda CB Jade 250, Honda Hornet 250, Kawasaki Belfius
250, and Yamaha Zeal 250. But due to factors such as lack of spare parts, carb,
CDI-related errors, and high maintenance costs, it has become a very cheap
Japanese motorcycle in the current motorcycle market.
Take a look at the photos below and get an idea about the
motorcycle, send your comments and suggestions to our FB page.
Until the next post, be safe and keep riding.
