The Ultimate Off-Road Porsche: Meet the 964 911 Baja

From 1989 until 1994, Porsche produced the 911 models that
make up the 964 generation. Both a rear-wheel drive (Carrera 2) and an
all-wheel drive (Carrera 4) version was offered. Depending on the model and
year, the Porsche 964 had a varying engine specification. The most common motor
was a 3.6 L flat-six with 250 horsepower and 229 lb-ft of torque. The Carrera
RS America had a slightly modified version of the 3.6 L engine that generated
247 hp and 228 lb-ft of torque, while the Turbo variant had a 3.3 L or 3.6 L
turbocharged flat-six that can produce up to 355 hp and 384 lb-ft of torque.

Russell Built Fabrication produced a specially made off-road
variant of the Porsche 964 called the 911 Baja. In order to manage rocky
terrain, it has upgraded chassis, suspension, bodywork, engine, and drivetrain.
The prototype has a 3.8-liter flat-six engine with 365 horsepower that was
based on a 964 Carrera 4 Cabriolet. Which would you prefer, the Baja or the
first-generation 964? Leave a comment below.
