Ferrari 250 GTE: The Ultimate Grand Tourer

The Ferrari 250 GTE is a 2+2 grand tourer that was produced by Ferrari from 1960 to 1963. It was the first production four-seat Ferrari and also the first production Ferrari equipped with disc brakes as standard equipment.

The 250 GTE was powered by a 3.0-liter Colombo V12 engine that produced 240 horsepower. The car had a top speed of 240 km/h.

The Ferrari 250 GTE was powered by the same Colombo Tipo 250 V12 engine as many of the other cars in the Ferrari 250 series, with a displacement of 3.0 liters producing 240 bhp. The short-block V12 produced a claimed 236 hp (240 PS) and had six twin-choke Weber 36 DCL6 carburetors.

The hood held a 3-liter V12 with a single overhead camshaft that produced 240 horsepower at 7,000 rpm. Power was sent to the rear wheels via a 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive.

The Ferrari 250 GTE was produced from 1959 to 1963 with a total of 954 cars made. It was Ferrari’s first four-seat model and the idea was successful enough to evolve into a series of Ferrari 2+2s that used the same engineering as the sports cars.

As these were made for grand touring, the GTE was marketed as a luxurious car. The car was designed at Pininfarina and featured attractive fastback coupe styling.
