The Porsche 959: A Technological Marvel from the 1980s that Changed the Game

One of the quickest and most technologically advanced vehicles of its day, the Porsche 959 is a legendary supercar from the 1980s. It had a 2.8-liter flat-6 turbocharged engine with 444 horsepower and a peak torque of 501 Nm (368 lb-ft) at 5500 rpm. It also had a permanent all-wheel drive system and a manual 6-speed gearbox with the ability to dynamically alter how much torque was sent to the front and rear wheels.

One of the quickest automobiles of its era, the Porsche 959 had a top speed of 317 km/h (198 mph). Thanks to its powerful engine, cutting-edge transmission, lightweight body composed of aluminum and Kevlar, and many other characteristics that made it a technological marvel, it could go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds.
